THUNDER BAY — Those who use city transit will have to double-check certain routes as construction on the north core will begin next week.
Starting on May 6, routes 1, 2, 3M, 11, and 13 will be detoured off their usual travel path because of the closure of the Red River Road and Cumberland Street intersection.
The city will provide an update when the intersection is ready to reopen, and then buses wil resume their previous routes.
The intersection is expected to open later this summer.
The construction work is part of the city’s Reimagining North Core Streetscapes project.
Information and detour maps for each impacted route can be found through the city's transit website.
Area businesses will remain open with pedestrian access intact during construction.
