THUNDER BAY — After going on a COVID-19 related hiatus that many festivals experienced, the Buskers Festival is ready to bring audiences back to the streets this weekend.
Open both this Saturday and Sunday at Bay and Algoma streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., people can enjoy more than 30 entertainers.
Emily Shandruk, one of the festival's coordinators, said the last event took place in 2019.
Shandruk said she is excited that there are so many performers ready to showcase some new skills, noting there might be performers at the festival that discovered their talents during the pandemic and are showcasing them to broader audiences for the first time.
It's also the first year the festival is getting a dedicated website with all the event details.
There will be lots of vendors along the route as well, offering crafts, food and services. Entry is free to the festival.
A great feature that Shandruk noted this year is at the info booth, where bills can be exchanged for coins to tip the buskers.
