THUNDER BAY — Mail delivery in the city has been suspended for the day due to the heavy snowfall.

Canada post issued a media advisory mid-day Friday informing the public of the red alert.

According to the release, all mail delivery and collection has been suspended in the city and delivery agents recalled or not sent out.

"The safety of our employees is our number one priority," reads the release.

Delivery and mail collection should resume when conditions improve and it's deemed safe.

Canada Post encourages its customers to clear snow and ice and ensure safe access to the front door for the safety of both visitor and mail carriers.
