THUNDER BAY - Non-essential travel between the United States and Canada will remain restricted for at least another 30 days.

The federal government announced on Monday that travel restrictions at the Canada/U.S. border will remain in effect until at least Nov. 21.

The most recent closure was to remain in effect until Oct. 21 but has now been extended.

Cases of COVID-19 continue to surge in the U.S., as well as in parts of Canada, including Southern Ontario.

The border between the two nations was closed to non-essential land travel since last March during the first wave of the pandemic. It has been extended several times by 30-day intervals.
