THUNDER BAY -- After being on strike for more than two months, Canadian Hearing Society employees will return to work on Monday.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 2073 have been on a province-wide strike since March 6, but on Friday members voted in favour of accepting a new five-year contract that was created earlier this week.

One of the main issues in dispute during the strike was sick leave, and the workers hadn’t seen a wage increase in four years.

This deal includes changes to the sick leave plan, pay raises in each of the five years of the deal and modest pension improvements.

More than 200 employees, including six in Thunder Bay, will return to work on Monday, May 15.
