THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay residents hoping to catch the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in action just south of the border next month will have to change their plans.
The popular air demonstration squadron has cancelled its appearance at the Duluth, Minnesota airshow.
The precision-flying team had been booked as one of the star attractions for the June 3rd and 4th event.
Poor weather this spring curtailed the squadron's training, so officials decided to cancel participation in half a dozen shows in Canada and the U.S. in order to free up more time for practices.
A spokesperson for the Duluth show expressed disappointment at the decision, but spectators will still be able to see high-profile acts such as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels aerobatic team, the new F-35 fighter jet and a flypast by a B-52 bomber.
The Snowbirds' cancellation of their appearance at the Windsor, Ontario airshow later this month has prompted organizers to scrub the entire event.
