An outspoken local veteran was remembered in the House of Commons Friday.
Dorothy Chambers, who passed away Oct. 30 at the age of 91, was well-known to local politicians.
She was remembered by Mayor Keith Hobbs at city council Monday night. On Friday, MP John Rafferty (NDP, Thunder Bay-Rainy River) rose in the House of Commons during Members' Statements to honour Chambers as well.
Born in Fort William, Chambers was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. In a statement from Rafferty, her family said she was a proud Canadian who lived life to the fullest.
"Dorothy, from your friends and on behalf of the people of Thunder Bay – Rainy River I sincerely thank you for your service to Canada and all you have done for veteran’s and for your community," Rafferty said.
A service for Chambers will be held Saturday at St. Paul's Anglican Church at 11 a.m.
