MILWAUKEE – Tyler Attardo has powered the Thunder Bay Chill to the top of the USL 2’s Deep North Division.

The Winnipeg native scored twice on Saturday to lead the Chill past Bavarian United SC by a 3-1 count.

Attardo broke a 1-1 tie in the 57th minute and added an insurance goal in the 82nd.

Karim Bachir Bey also scored for Thunder Bay (5-2-1), opening the scoring in the sixth minute of play.

Ryan Amond had the Bavarian United goal, the score coming in the 23rd.

The Chill, at 16 points, have the third most points in the division, but the league ranks teams based on points per game. The Chill, with 16 points, are averaging two points a game.

It was the second win of the week for Thunder Bay, who edged RKC Third Coast 1-0 on the road on Thursday night. Attardo had the lone goal in that contest and the Chill striker now has eight goals in eight appearances in 2024.

Bavarian United, at 6-3-1, has 19 points, but only averages 1.9 points per game. St. Croix is third, with 17 points and its 5-2-2 record translating to a 1.89 points-per-game average. The Chill have two games in hand on Bavarian United and one on St. Croix.

The Chill return to the friendly confines of Tbaytel Field at Chapples Park on Friday night at 7 p.m. against Minneapolis City, who beat them 1-0 at home earlier this season, and then host Rochester FC on Sunday at 1 p.m.
