THUNDER BAY — As much as 20 centimetres of snow could fall on the city this weekend.

Environment Canada on Wednesday announced a special weather statement, said they're forecasting a significant spring storm starting on Friday and lasting into Saturday.

Between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow is expected, with amount exceeding 20 centimetres in some areas.

The system is expected to move west to east across Northwestern Ontario.

There is a possibility of reduced snowfall if the storm turns to ice pellets or freezing rain.

Environment Canada said there is still uncertainty where the snowfall will be heaviest.
