City man charged with distributing intimate images and luring a child

Charges were laid after the Thunder Bay Police cyber crimes unit seized multiple electronic devices

THUNDER BAY — An ongoing investigation by the Thunder Bay Police cyber crime unit has led to multiple charges against a city resident.

Police on Tuesday announced the outcome of an investigation launched in November 2024 after a report was received about a local internet user engaged in illegal activity.

In December, officers seized a number of electronic devices.

The investigation culminated Monday in the arrest of 32-year-old William Heidrick.

He is charged with:

• Distribute Intimate Images Without Consent (four counts)
• Identity Fraud (two counts)
• Criminal Harassment
• Breach of Probation (three counts)
• Breach of Release Order
• Accessing Child Pornography
• Luring a Child
• Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to a Child

The accused appeared in court Tuesday and was remanded into custody for a future appearance date.

The charges have not yet been tested in court.
