THUNDER BAY — City police and the Ministry of Transportation conducted a traffic safety blitz in the city's north end last week.

Teaming up to tackle a known problematic route, Thunder Bay Police Service officers and members of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation were on Dawson Road Friday and Saturday, focusing on the safety of both commercial and passenger vehicles.

Positioned on Dawson Road, west of Hazelwood Drive, 48 charges were laid against commercial drivers for following too closely, which was the main focus of the traffic blitz.

There were also speeding charges laid for both passenger and commercial vehicles during the two days.
