THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay is recommending that its suppliers and vendors switch to electronic methods to send invoiced and make payments during the Canada Post strike.

On Tuesday, the City of Thunder Bay issued a media release stating that during the Canada Post strike its ability to process invoices and payments in a timely manner is being impacted, and to follow their recommendations to avoid delays.

“Suppliers and vendors can continue to submit their invoices and receive payments without unnecessary delays,” read the release.

The city made three recommendations to supplier and vendors during the strike.

The first recommendation is for suppliers to send invoices via email to ctbpayables@thunderbay.ca.

The second recommendation states that Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) is the preferred and most reliable method of payment at this time. The city says in the release they encourage all vendors to apply for EFT payments to avoid delays. Application forms are available by emailing EFT@thunderbay.ca.

The third recommendation is in regards to cheque payments. The release said to expect delays in payment by cheque.

“Cheques will be available for pick up at City Hall for suppliers who are unable to sign up for electronic funds transfer,” the release said.

City administration is thanking the community for their patience.
