City of Thunder Bay release
THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay has released the 2017 Drinking Water Quality Annual Report.
“We encourage residents to read the report to learn how the City’s drinking water is treated, monitored, and delivered to their homes. We also invite you to come tour the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant to discover this firsthand,” said Michelle Warywoda, Director – Environment Division. “Our City’s water is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This report confirms what the results of testing continue to show day after day – residents can have confidence in the quality of the drinking water produced from the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant and delivered through the distribution system.”
Under the provisions of Ontario Regulation 170/03, all municipalities must ensure that a report is prepared and submitted to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for each calendar year. The provincial regulations also set out mandatory treatment requirements for facilities using surface water as a source. Water samples are taken and evaluated for all parameters that can impact water quality.
Print copies of the report can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, from the Environment Division at Victoriaville Civic Centre, at all branches of Thunder Bay Public Libraries, at the Front and Egan Service Yard located at 155 Front Street, and at the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant.
