THUNDER BAY – This year’s Canadian Lakehead Exhibition will have plenty of Canadian content on its entertainment stage.

Belleville, Ont. rocker Lee Aaron is the top name on this year’s bill, but there’s no shortage of other familiar names who will be performing at this year’s fair, scheduled to begin on Aug. 7 at the CLE grounds.

Doug and the Slugs, Nick Gilder and Sweeney Todd, Destroyer and Haywire are also on this year’s lineup, along with hypnotist Corrie J and Rynestone Magician.

Aaron rose to stardom in the 1980s and 1990s, hitting the top 25 on the Canadian charts with her 1989 single, Whatcha Do to My Body. Other hits include Only Human, Hands On and Sex With Love.

Though lead singer and co-founder Doug Bennett died 20 years ago, Doug and the Slugs have continued to tour under the original name, and have plenty of radio-friendly hits in their repertoire, including Too Bad, Making it Work, Day By Day and Who Knows How to Make Love Stay.

Nick Gilder is the frontman for the glam rock band Sweeney Todd – a band that briefly included a young Bryan Adams and best known for its No. 1 hit, Roxy Roller.

Haywire, who hail from Prince Edward Island, had a top 10 hit with 1987’s Dance Desire, while Destroyer is a Kiss tribute band.
