Cold keeps coming, breaks another record for Jan. 2

The recent cold snap continues to make and break weather records in the region. Officials with Environment Canada confirmed that Thursday morning’s low of -38.6C set a new temperature record for the city. The previous coldest Jan.

The recent cold snap continues to make and break weather records in the region.

Officials with Environment Canada confirmed that Thursday morning’s low of -38.6C set a new temperature record for the city.

The previous coldest Jan. 2 was set in 1979 when it was -38.5.

Meanwhile, the cold weather is expected to continue. Environment Canada’s forecast shows nighttime lows of -30C and colder throughout much of the week.

Highs of of -21C, -19C and -18C are expected for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
