Collision brings range of charges for Fort Frances man

Single-vehicle collision in late November results in impaired, drug, and weapons charges

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – A Fort Frances man faces a range of drug, weapons, and impaired driving charges after being involved in a collision late last month.

Officers with Treaty Three Police and the OPP’s Rainy River detachment responded to the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Mill Road in Fort Frances on Nov. 29, according to an OPP release issued Sunday.

Police arrested Douglas Labelle, 39, as a result of an investigation into the scene.

Labelle stands charged of impaired driving, three counts of trafficking (Schedule I), unauthorized possession and careless storage of a firearm, and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

He was additionally charged with possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Labelle was being held for bail Sunday night, the OPP reported.
