NIPIGON - Construction on a portion of the Nipigon River Bridge has been suspended following a mishap Tuesday afternoon.
The Ministry of Transportation is investigating after a concrete bridge deck fell while being hoisted from the ground to deck level.
There were no reports of injuries, though a witness said several workers had to quickly get out of the way to avoid getting hit by the falling deck.
Traffic on the bridge was not disrupted but construction on the centre pier has been suspended while the investigation continues.
The results of the investigation will be provided to the Ministry of Labour.
