A provincial judge has pushed back the case involving an OPP officer charged with intercepting private communications until next month.

Const. Gregory Sutton’s lawyer spoke briefly at the Thunder Bay Ontario Court of Justice Tuesday where a judge adjourned the case until Aug. 12.

Police charged Sutton, an eight-year veteran with the Schrieber detachment of the OPP, with intercepting a private conversation and two counts of public mischief in March.

The Professional Standards Bureau was contacted by the Thunder Bay Police Service last December after an incident in the city that led investigators to find Sutton had made false statements against a victim and illegally intercepted a private conversation.

Sutton was off duty at the time and is currently suspended with pay.

None of the allegations against the suspect have been proven in court.
