THUNDER BAY – The city’s latest Thunder Bay 50/50 jackpot winner is not unlike all the rest – she was surprised to get a Friday morning call from Glenn Craig telling her she’d won $615,790.
“There’s no way,” she said, answering the phone, telling the president and CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation that she’ll be splitting the prize with her mother-in-law Valerie Covello.
Craig says he can’t wait for the last Friday of each month to deliver the good news to the lucky winner of the draw, which to date has awarded more than $12.1 million in grand prizes alone.
The foundation uses its share to purchase equipment for Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
“It feels good to deliver the good news that someone has just won hundreds of thousands of dollars,” Craig said.
“We are launching our June draw today and we are always changing the early bird prize board from month to month to keep things exciting. This month there are eight early bird draws, meaning more chances to win.”
Tickets for the draw are available at www.thunderbay5050.ca. The grand prize is scheduled for June 23.
