THUNDER BAY – A person associated with St. Ann Elementary School in Westfort has tested positive for COVID-19, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board announced Tuesday evening.
The individual had not been in the school “for an extended period of time,” according to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
However, the health unit asked that possible close contacts of the case be dismissed from school and tested “as an added safety measure,” the board said.
That includes one class cohort and one bus cohort at the Westfort elementary school, who the board said it had already contacted.
The school board and health unit are also currently managing an outbreak at St. Martin School involving 20 positive cases, as of Monday evening. That resulted in the closure of the school to in-person learning until at least Monday, Nov. 29.
