GREENSTONE, Ont. — For the second straight day, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Greenstone and vicinity fell on Tuesday.
Geraldton District Hospital reported there were 45 active cases, five fewer than on Monday and 14 fewer than last Friday.
According to GDH, one new case was confirmed in the previous 24 hours, while six previously identified cases were considered resolved.
These statistics include cases within the Municipality of Greenstone and surrounding First Nations communities.
Long Lake 58 First Nation remains in a state of emergency due to a COVID-19 outbreak that's resulted in members of well over half of all households in the community self-isolating.
The Geraldton hospital obtains its data from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, which earlier on Tuesday reported the active COVID-19 caseload within its jurisdiction had fallen to 60.
TBDHU said five area residents with COVID are currently in hospital, including one in intensive care.
In the jurisdiction of the Northwestern Health Unit, only one new positive COVID-19 test result was reported Tuesday.
The NWHU said it was in the Dryden area.
There are currently four active COVID-19 cases within the health unit's service area.
