THUNDER BAY – Health authorities have reported one COVID-19 case each at two Thunder Bay schools, Ecole Gron Morgan Public School and St. Ignatius High School.

Parents and guardians of students in cohorts affected by the St. Ignatius case have already been notified, along with affected staff, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board said in a release Thursday evening. They will also be contacted by a public health nurse to follow up.

Only those who are symptomatic or not fully vaccinated will be directed to remain at home, the board said. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit will continue to monitor the situation and advise of any changes, it added.

Health authorities are similarly in the process of following up with close contacts of a single case announced at Ecole Gron Morgan by the Lakehead District School Board Thursday.

Anyone not contacted by public health is not considered at elevated risk, the board said.

The two schools join several others recently impacted by COVID-19 cases, including Elsie MacGill Public School, St. Ann Elementary School, and St. Martin School, where an outbreak had grown to 20 cases earlier this week.
