THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has confirmed COVID-19 has been detected within the school community at Holy Family School on Rosslyn Road.

On Friday the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board announced a single individual associated with the school had tested positive for the virus. Parents, guardians and staff of the cohort have been contacted by the board, were dismissed in the morning and will be contacted by a public health nurse and given instructions.

The cohort is expected to remain home and a thorough cleaning and disinfection process is under way at the school.

The board says it will not identify the individual who tested positive, citing privacy reasons.

The board said the development also impacts a Pope John Paul II Elementary school-bus cohort. Those students have also been dismissed and should expect to be contacted by public health. Pope John Paul II is considered low risk, according to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
