THUNDER BAY — There's a new COVID-19 outbreak at the City of Thunder Bay's Pioneer Ridge long-term care home.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit declared the outbreak Tuesday morning in the nursing home's Plaza 1.
As usual, details of the extent of the outbreak were not released.
Under Ontario regulations, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in residents, staff or other visitors in a home, with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the LTC home.
There are currently five publicly-declared COVID outbreaks in high-risk settings in the city, including the third floor of Southbridge Roseview Manor, Birch Grove on the first floor of Hogarth Riverview Manor, 4 South at Hogarth Riverview Manor, and Shelter House.
