THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at a Thunder Bay retirement home.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Chartwell Glacier Ridge Retirement Residence confirmed the outbreak Thursday at the Jasper Drive facility.
As usual, TBDHU did not disclose the extent of the outbreak, but said it had initiated a thorough assessment of the situation.
According to the most recent published data, there are currently 10 active COVID outbreaks in high-risk settings in the Thunder Bay region.
Fifty-seven people who have tested positive for the virus are hospitalized, including one in intensive care.
Over the seven days up to Oct. 10, the average daily positivity test rate in the Thunder Bay district was 21.7 per cent, compared with 14.4 per cent over the same period for Ontario as a whole.
