THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Hogarth Riverview Manor long-term care home on Lillie Street.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit made the announcement Thursday afternoon.

It said the outbreak is in the Birch Grove resident home area of the facility, which is operated by St. Joseph's Care Group.

The announcement did not disclose the number of people infected, or whether they are patients or staff.

Ontario regulations definite a COVID outbreak in a nursing home as two or more lab-confirmed cases in residents, staff or visitors, with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could reasonably have acquired the infection in the LTC home.
