THUNDER BAY - The popular annual event that celebrates crafts of all kind is expanding this year, adding several new locations to display the artistic talents of local artisans.
The 10th annual spring edition of Craft Revival is returning this weekend to the Waterfront and this year will expand into the Bay and Algoma District.
“It's truly awesome to see how significant Craft Revival has grown over the years,” said Craft Revival founder, Maelyn Hurley. “The event provides an opportunity for local artisans to showcase their work, but also attracts thousands of people into Thunder Bay businesses throughout the day.”
Craft Revival will also feature music, dance, and other unique performances throughout the day. In the past, more than 3,000 people have attended.
“It really brings together the community while generating economic spinoffs and creating good vibes,” Hurley said. “Now celebrating its 10th occasion, the Craft Revival has really expanded into a lively, modern event showcasing the best in craft and design in the region."
This year will include 26 locations, up from 19 during the November event, more than 200 artisans, and seven entertainment venues. New this year is also the Craft Revival shuttle bus, which will loop around both locations throughout the day.
A portion of the proceeds will go toward supporting Definitely Superior Art Gallery and LU Radio.
"Together we can celebrate the art of craft in Thunder Bay,” Hurley said. “Craft Revival provides exposure to help our artisans succeed and gives Thunder Bay and the surrounding region with access to a vibrant community of artists and craftspeople. It's a perfect platform for families and community members to shop and appreciate local crafts. Happiness is truly homemade."
Craft Revival will be held on Sunday May 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit the Craft Revival website.
