Workers with Hydro One are repairing the more than 80 hydro poles that were taken out by forest fires across the Northwest.

Hydro One spokeswoman Daniele Gauvin said most of the damage was done about 90-kilometres north of Ear Falls. That repair work is expected to be finished soon, although residents effected by the outage aren’t expected to have the lights turned on before the weekend.

“We’ve moved in more than 80 personnel, lots of equipment and some helicopters and we expect to have power restored to all 600 (impacted) residents by late Monday night,” Gauvin said.

Meanwhile, another 194 Cat Lake residents were evacuated from their homes to Kapuskasing as forest fires continue to threaten the area.
