THUNDER BAY - A bridge on the city’s north side will be reduced by one lane in order to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic in the area.
According to the city of Thunder Bay, the outside lane of southbound traffic on the Cumberland Street North bridge over the Current River will be closed as of Friday, July 24.
The closure is being called a safety measure to protect the increased number of pedestrian using the bridge while circling Boulevard Lake.
The walkway over the Boulevard Lake Dam is closed for the dam rehabilitation project and is expected to remain closed until the project’s completion in the fall of 2021.
As a result, the traffic lane on the Cumberland Street North bridge will also remain closed until the dam project is complete.
