THUNDER BAY -- Andrew Foulds says he's disappointed and frustrated over delays with the Boulevard Lake Damn Rehabilitation Project but he wants the city to do it right.

The city learned last week that the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change has raised a number of concerns over the $5.3 million project's environmental assessment.

The project has been delayed over several years and the city also took the opportunity last week to let the public know that it has now delayed the work again until 2017 to make way for the 2016 Can-Am Police-Fire Games. Foulds said he supports the delay as the games will have a great economic impact for the city but he shares residents' concerns that the project is delayed again.

"I am extremely disappointed by how things have unfolded over the last number of years," he said.

Foulds thinks that administration is working and has worked as hard as it can to get the project started.

"I think some of the scope of the project has changed over the years," he said. "I think they're frustrated as well."

Despite the setbacks, Foulds said he's confident that the project will get underway in 2017. Along with the stretched timeline, more money could be needed for the work, something council and administration will discuss.
