THUNDER BAY – The Current River Storm’s a brewing.

The expansion team is set to join the Lakehead Junior Hockey League in time for the start of next season, growing the four-team circuit to five.

The Storm will be owned by father-and-son duo Ryan and Robbie Untinen, the latter of whom will assume the team’s general manager’s chair and take the reins behind the bench.

“Not only will the players be able to compete in Junior hockey, but they will also be proudly representing the community of Current River. We want to create a team full of passion and respect for the game of hockey,” the younger Untinen said in a release, issued on Wednesday, announcing the team’s arrival.

The team, which will play at the Current River Arena, is a welcome addition to the LJHL, said league president Josh Gribben.

"Lakehead Junior Hockey League is excited to be in a position where we are growing the game at the local Junior B level,” Gribben said.

"We wish this new group nothing but success in their new endeavor."
