Thunder Bay police say someone’s idea of a practical joke could have had deadly consequences.

On Saturday police responded to a complaint that fishing line had been strung across a bike and walking path at Boulevard Lake, a move they say could have serious injured or possibly even killed an unwitting passerby.

The lines were placed randomly, about five to six feet off the ground.

Police ask the public to remain vigilant while using walking or bike paths in the city, as well as asking anyone who might have information about the incident to come forward.
