DeGrazia captures AON District Open again

Thunder Bay pro started the day six shots off the lead and edged Jeff Hunter by one stroke to claim his fourth District Open championship.

THUNDER BAY – Evan DeGrazia is the AON District Open champion for the fourth time in the past 10 years.

Starting the day four shots behind first-round leader Matthew Cho-Chu, DeGrazia fired an even par 72 on Sunday at Fort William Country Club to capture the title, edging Jeff Hunter by one stroke.

The Thunder Bay professional was three-over 147 over the two-day tournament, which opened on Saturday at Whitewater Golf Course.

Jeremy Kirk, who opened Day 2 seven shots back, finished in third, with a six-over 150 total. Jack Moro and Ed Atwill were one shot back, tied for fourth, at 151. Cho-Chu ballooned to an 82 on Sunday, and finished six shots off the pace.

Atwill claimed the second flight title. Robbie Campbell was tops in Flight 3 with a 162 score and Justin Forester grabbed the Flight 4 title, with a two-day total of 161.
