Diabetes Canada holding clothing drop-off on Saturday

Event will be held outside the Canadian Tire on Fort William Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

THUNDER BAY – Diabetes Canada hasn’t been collecting used clothing since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, but that’s about to change.

The organization says it plans to host a curbside drop-off collection on Saturday in Thunder Bay, the community-wide clothing donation planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the Canadian Tire on Fort William Road.

The touch-free event will see volunteers collecting bagged or boxed clothing and small household items from vehicle trunks.

“We are pleased to resume our clothing collection operations in Thunder Bay, said Sean Shannon, President and CEO of National Diabetes Trust. “The people of Thunder Bay are very generous. We want to thank those donors who de-cluttered and stored their items at home while waiting for us to resume operations. We hope they continue to support us and donate their used goods at our kick-off event on July 11.”

Donations can also be made a donation bins, and starting on Sunday, residents can schedule home pick-ups.

Net proceeds from the donations are used the help Diabetes Canada’s charitable work.
