Drive-through COVID-19 testing offered again at Health Unit

THUNDER BAY —  Area residents wishing to be tested for COVID-19 from the comfort of their own cars will get another opportunity this weekend.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says any individuals with a symptom possibly related to the virus may be eligible.

Hours of operation are 9-5 on both Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, in the health unit's parking lot at 999 Balmoral Street.

About 300 people took advantage of the service when it was first offered last weekend.

Participants must contact the TBDHU at (807) 625-5900 or 1-888-294-6630 in advance.

Testing is encouraged for anyone presenting any of the following symptoms:

  • fever
  • cough
  • difficulty breathing
  • fatigue
  • muscle aches
  • loss of appetite
  • sore throat/hoarse voice
  • runny nose
  • loss of taste and smell
  • diarrhea

The drive-through testing is being conducted in partnership with the Superior North EMS Community Paramedicine Program.

People will be allotted appointments based on first available.

Test results will be available directly from the provincial laboratory system through an online portal: https://covid-19.ontario.ca
