Driver blames vehicle's 'auto' mode for speeding

A driver attempted to blame his autonomous car after being pulled over for speeding.

THUNDER BAY — Provincial police got a new excuse when pulling over a driver last week.

While doing radar patrol east of Thunder Bay on Highway 11/17, officers pulled over a Tesla when it was clocked at 125 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 zone.

The Toronto man driving the car blamed the vehicle for speeding because it was in "autonomous mode."

Nevertheless, police charged the driver for speeding.
