Driver charged after collision with police vehicle

A passenger vehicle collided with an ummarked Thunder Bay Police vehicle stopped for a red light.

THUNDER BAY — A motorist has been charged after a late-night collision with a Thunder Bay Police Service vehicle.

The incident occurred shortly after 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of High Street and Oliver Road.

Police say an officer with the TBPS primary response branch was driving an unmarked vehicle that was stopped at a red light when it was struck by a passenger vehicle.

Both drivers were treated for minor injuries, and both vehicles sustained damage.

The 35-year-old civilian is charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
