THUNDER BAY -- Charges have now been laid in connection with a two-vehicle crash involving a Thunder Bay Police cruiser last week.

The police car and an SUV collided at the corner of Dawson Road and East Avenue on Friday afternoon.

There were no injuries, but traffic was backed up for close to an hour while other officers investigated, and cleared the scene.

Police now say the driver of the SUV, an 82-year-old man, has been charged with failing to stop for a red light.

An internal investigation is also underway, which occurs with any collision involving a police cruiser.
