Driver faces multiple charges in Nov. 30 head-on collision

THUNDER BAY – A 29-year-old Thunder Bay man is facing multiple charges following a collision that sent two people to hospital with serious to life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred just after 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 30, on Oliver Road near Highgate Road, and involved a head-on collision between a pick-up truck and a sedan.

The lone occupant of the sedan and both occupants of the pickup truck, the 79-year-old driver and 47-year-old passenger, had to be extricated from their vehicles and taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Dallas Hiebert, following an extensive Thunder Bay Police Service investigation, faces two counts of impaired operation causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.

He’s been released from custody and faces a future court appearance.

Police say the victims from the pick-up truck remain in hospital with serious, life-altering injuries and face a long road to recovery.
