A 45-year-old woman was taken to hospital on Wednesday afternoon after impaling her car through the southwest corner wall at Fort William Gardens.

Firefighters and police responded to the supper-hour, single-car collision, though it’s too soon for them to say what caused the collision, which occurred at the corner of Miles and Vickers streets.

Damage to the 64-year-old facility appeared to be extensive. Police say the city's engineering department will be attending the scene to assess damages.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues, police said in a release issued on Wednesday night.
