(DRYDEN, ON) – On May 9, 2016 at 6:39 p.m., members of the Dryden Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Docker Township.
When dealing with the occupants of the vehicle, police determined they were transporting a quantity of unmarked cigarettes. A search of the vehicle revealed 65 cases of illegal cigarettes.
The tobacco’s estimated street value is approximately $195,000.00.
As a result of the investigation a 35-year-old Winnipeg resident has been charged with the following:
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco contrary to Section 121.1 of the Criminal Code.
- Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale contrary to Section 29(1) of the Tobacco Tax Act.z
- Possess unmarked cigarettes contrary to Section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
A 35-year-old Winnipeg man aws charged with the following:
- Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco contrary to Section 121.1 contrary to Section 121.1 of the Criminal Code.
- Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale contrary to Section 29(1) of the Tobacco Tax Act.

Possess unmarked cigarettes contrary to Section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
