RED LAKE, Ont.  -- Maxime Collette was the SIJHL most valuable player and he showed why on Friday night, saving the Dryden Ice Dogs season with a three-goal, Game 5 performance against the Red Lake Miners.

Collette, the league's leading scorer in the regular season, scored a goal in each of the game's three periods to lead the Ice Dogs to a 4-2 road win.

The Ice Dogs now trail the best-of-seven series 3-2 and will attempt again on Sunday to stave off elimination, this time on home ice.

Tyler Earl had Dryden's other tally.

Alim Darmenov and Nic Bolin had the goals for Red Lake, who can clinch the series and advance to the Bill Salonen Cup final against the Kam River Fighting Walleye with a win on Sunday night.
