Dubinsky opens with win at U18 nationals

OTTAWA – Team Dubinsky is off to a winning start at the Canadian Under-18 Women’s Curling Championship.

Skip Claire Dubinsky’s foursome trailed New Brunswick’s Maizie Carter 4-2 after five ends on Sunday in the national capital, but rallied back to tie the match with a pair in the sixth and stole her way to victory with three in the seventh.

Dubinsky, lead Lily Ariganello, second Bella McCarville and third Rylie Paul went on to win their opening game 7-5.

The Northern Ontario champions will take on Saskatchewan’s Shawna Simpson on Monday morning.
