THUNDER BAY – Northern Ontario is in contention at the U18 girls’ curling championship in Saskatoon.

The Claire Dubinsky rink on Wednesday won for the third time in four outings, downing Prince Edward Island 10-2 to improve to 3-1.

The two teams traded singles in the first and second before Dubinsky, third Rylie Paul, second Bella McCarville and lead Lily Ariganello stole a pair in the third to jump in front 3-1.

P.E.I.’s Veronica Pater got one back in the fourth, but promptly allowed Dubinsky and company to pile up four in the fifth, taking a 7-2 lead. They stole three more in the sixth and shook hands.

Team Dubinsky, who call the Kakabeka Falls Curling Club home, are tied for second in the Pool C standings. Prince Edward Island is 0-2.

Dubinsky takes on British Columbia No. 1 and Alberta No. 2, the latter atop Pool A at 4-0, to close out their round robin play.
