There's a familiar face at the helm of referees for Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO).

Colin Dzijacky takes over the role of director of officiating, succeeding Bryan Graham.

“I hope to grow our officiating base by educating those currently playing, recently graduated [from] playing, and those who haven’t played in a long time about the benefits and joy you can get from reffing," Dzijacky said.

"There is nothing like being in the action, and this is the best way to have the best seat in the house and work with lots of fantastic officials in our branch.”

Dzijacky is also one of the creators of the Earn Your Stripes initiative, which helps make it easier for new referees to get on the ice.

He went on to say, "“I’m excited to work with all member associations and individuals involved with hockey across the branch. Hockey is a very important part of life in Northwestern Ontario, and I’m honoured to be able to be a part of it.”

During his two-plus years with the organization, Dzijacky has officiated all levels of hockey through HNO, from Under-11 to Ontario University Athletics (OUA).

He also holds the assignment role for officials in Thunder Bay Minor.
