Encounter nightmares through the halls of the Thunder Bay Museum

Saturday night will be intense, Scott Bradley, executive director at Thunder Bay Museum, warned.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Museum is presenting Phantoms of the Galleries, which started Friday night.

Continuing through Saturday and Sunday, the Thunder Bay Museum partnered with Science North will hold a scary tour of the galleries featuring vignettes from crimes in Thunder Bay’s history.

Scott Bradley, executive director at Thunder Bay Museum, said Friday and Saturday will be the scary tours.

“People can come in and they can walk through our halls with a tour guide for about 45 minutes to learn the history of some murders, but also be really terrified by all the spooky stuff throughout the galleries.

“There's also, of course, that chance to stop by the gift shop and pick up the murders book by Kim Casey and just have a lot of fun, learning a little bit of science along the way.”

Friday and Saturday are geared for adults, Bradley said.

“It's going to be very intense. I mean, strobe lights and jump scares and all kinds of things.”

Bradley said the event on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. is all age appropriate.

“We're going to take a lot of the scary stuff down kids can come in. Science North will be doing demonstration stations, a lot more family friendly.

“There will be some scary stuff that's optional for people that day, but mostly family friendly.”

Bradley said the staff at the museum were exited to put this together.

“There was a lot of excitement about playing around with history and what stories we could tell here.

“But also, just how scary can we make the building, most of the staff, we've been here late at night and there's weird sounds in the building. Now we kind of get to explore where those scary places are in the museum. It's been a lot of fun.”

Bradley said without giving too much away, there will be a couple things talked about, including a local execution.

“Tours are every 15 minutes starting at 5 p.m. and the last one starts at 9:15 p.m. Some are already sold out.

“Everybody can go to the ThunderBayMuseum.com and there's a link there to go to the Eventbrite page to pick out your times,” Bradley said.
