THUNDER BAY — Extreme cold weather has led to the closure of several ski areas across Thunder Bay on Sunday.
Environment Canada issued the extreme cold weather warning for Northwestern Ontario earlier this weekend.
The vortex of Artic air has resulted in windchills expected to feel as low as -40 C until Tuesday and even into Wednesday in some locations.
Loch Lomond and Mount Baldy are among some ski areas that are closed due to safety concerns and challenging operations posed by the weather.
However, the Kamview Nordic Centre and Lappe Ski Centre remain open.
The centres recommend skiers to dress warm and ski during the day at this time.
