THUNDER BAY – The Friends of Chippewa Park have announced the details of Family Fest 101, a 5-day festival that will celebrate the “hundredth anniversary plus one” of the park as the 100th-anniversary celebration was unable to go ahead last year due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

"We hope people will come out and enjoy all the music and everything else that's going on, and see the park that they haven't seen really for the last few years, you know, and enjoy it," said Linda Lafontaine, Co-Chair, Family Fest 101

A broad range of Thunder Bay and area musicians, comedians, and other entertainers will be showcased over the five days, and officials say that there will be something for everyone.

There will be 57 musical acts playing a variety of genres, including rock, jazz, and classical. Headliners will include Ian Tamblyn, Daylin James, and the Sensational Hot Rods.

Along with the musical acts, a children's festival will be held on-site with a fish derby, games, and kid's activities.

The amusement rides will be in operation, including the park's historic carousel, and food, refreshments, and merchandise vendors will also be on site.

The event is free for all ages, and officials are expecting thousands of patrons from across the region to attend.

"There's lots of room at the beaches, go for a swim, hopefully, we have some nice weather, and just enjoy your time with your family and friends," said Cathy Sawicki, Co-Chair, Family Fest 101

The festival will run from July 28 until August 1 and for more information about the festival, visit their website!
