THUNDER BAY — The family of a 65-year-old man missing for several months is relaunching a search for him and asking the public for any and all information on his possible whereabouts.
Nishnawbe Aski Nation on Friday said Joseph Alexander Lawson — commonly referred to as Alex or AJ — was last seen in the 200 block of Madeline Street on since Nov. 27, 2022.
“We are appealing to members of the public to be on the lookout. November 27 is still the last confirmed sighting of our dad, and he has been missing for far too long. Please check your yards, your boats, buildings, and all areas of private property,” said Kimberly Lawson, the missing man’s daughter.
“If you have any tips, please come forward. We need your help and desperately want to find our father.”
Search teams and family members from Lac Seul First Nation and Miksheegogamang First Nation arrived in Thunder Bay this week to help lead the search brigade.
“In Thunder Bay and Winnipeg have investigated many leads and we appreciate their efforts. The initial search lasted about 40 days and we’ll continue to support all search efforts. Thank you for your continued assistance and prayers. We implore the people of Thunder Bay to keep their eyes open and come forward immediately with any information,” said NAN Deputy Grand Chief Anna Betty Achneepineskum, in the release issued on Friday.
Earlier this month, Thunder Bay police and the OPP conducted a ground search in the Grandview neighbourhood, with K-9 units involved.
Volunteers are welcome to take part in the search or provide donations of food or water, which can be dropped off at 515 Syndicate Ave. North from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
