Female youth arrested in Sioux Lookout after incident with knife

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an incident that occurred in Hudson, ON during the early morning hours of July 13, 2015 involving a knife wielding suspect.

At approximately 5:49 am officers were dispatched to Hudson after a woman heard noises in her front yard on Second Street in Hudson.

She went to the front door and came face to face with a suspect brandishing a knife. Three other suspects were present and all fled the scene. The woman called 911 and her boyfriend followed the suspects and updated police.

Police arrived at 6:01 am and arrested the first suspect, a female youth. Three other suspects remained at large in the area and fled into bushes in an attempt to evade the police. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) as well as local detachment members responded and established a perimeter to ensure the safety of residents and to search for the suspects. The OPP Canine unit was also dispatched.

At 8:24 am one of the male suspects was observed and police gave chase. The other two suspects were also located shortly after and by 8:33am, all suspects had been arrested. The suspects were all youths and it appeared to be an isolated incident. There is no continuing threat to public safety.

While officers were on scene it came to light that the same group of suspects had broken into at least one other home in Hudson. A vehicle was also damaged. The suspects will also face charges for those incidents. The OPP remains committed to public safety and will ensure that the persons involved will be held responsible.

At the time of this report the investigation is still ongoing and the suspects are still in custody. It is anticipated that approximately 20 Criminal Charges will be laid on two male suspects, and one female suspect. Updates to follow once more information are known.
